Looking for a garlic scape pesto that is dairy-free, nut-free and vegan? Look no further! This one is for the garlic lovers out there. If you are lucky enough to have garlic growing in your yard then this is a great recipe to use the scapes (flowering tops). If you do not have garlic growing then look for scapes at your local farmers market or natural market. This pesto is very versatile. You could toss it in pasta, spread it on crunchy gluten-free french bread, or if you really enjoy garlic, spread it on gluten-free crackers or make pesto chicken breast. It would also be really good spread on Focaccia. This garlic scape pesto is nut-free because I used raw sunflower seeds and dairy-free because it uses sheep’s milk Pecorino Romano cheese. It could be vegan if you choose to use a non-animal based cheese product.
