While living gluten free and allergy free there are days that I would give anything to just have a hot dog on a soft white bun with mustard, pickle relish and onions!!! Do you ever struggle with just saying the heck with it and jumping off the band wagon? I sure do! I ultimately don’t give in because the end results aren’t worth it. But that doesn’t stop the desire and inner struggle I face when I am so frustrated and completely bored with my food choices. You would think that after being diagnosed with a dairy allergy 14 years ago and being gluten free for 2 1/2 years that I wouldn’t struggle with this any longer. That couldn’t be any further from the truth. I would say at least 2-3 times a month I just want to eat what everyone else is eating. Then, I stop and realize that if I do, I will be horribly sick and it isn’t worth it. My dear sweet husband is usually the one who comes to my side and coaches me to hang in there and not to do it. Don’t get me wrong I am thankful for our gluten free and allergy friendly choices available to us today. It wasn’t so many years ago that rice cakes were it. What keeps you sane and on the right track? Do you have a good support system or comfort foods that you always keep on hand for just a time as this? I would love to hear from you. I am sure all of my readers would love some new ideas! Please share and get the conversation going.
